Interior-D and LCI Melbourne for 5vie D’N’A
Interior-D and LCI Melbourne for 5vie D’N’A

D like Dimension or like Design

September 30, 2020

We are excited to announce LCI Melbourne’s very own Mireille Oberholster is collaborating with Interior-D, to bring you D like Dimension or like Design, as part of 5vie Milano D’N’A – Design ‘N’ Art for a better world.

Lockdowns from North to South and the forced halt in physical space (the home) has allowed for definitions of new boundaries in our mental space. Soul, body, mind and physique all bound inside our homely walls seem to be looking for a new balance: the awareness of well-being and well-living inside one’s home. The home which turns into a refuge, a nest but also a container.

In addition to the digital exhibition, LCI Melbourne and Interior-D will come together for an online talk. A psychologist in Stockholm (Tito Sartori), an architect in Treviso (Cù Design’s Carla Palù) and a designer in Melbourne (LCI Melbourne’s Mireille Oberholster), will lead the discussion in search of answers.

Set your reminders! We will be hosting the talk on our YouTube channel, 8 October between 8-9pm (11am-12pm Milan local time). You can watch the live event, housed on 5vie’s website here.

200 emerging designers from Melbourne discuss their world of objects in the home, to better understand how we use the objects we buy and surround ourselves with. Amongst the designers are two LCI Melbourne graduates, who in the midst of Melbourne’s strict lockdown, started a new project dedicated to the slow experience which operates entirely from their home.

Are they useful? Are they decorative? Are they indispensable? Do they make us feel good?

Founder and Owner Lilah Benetti and Co-founder Kanya Khieo-on have been operating NODE (No Ordinary Design Era) since the beginning of May. Lilah and Kanya encompass the use of household objects and the natural light from their home interior, to bring calm to the design pieces they give new life to.

NODE operate entirely from their home, with their garage and backyard as the workshop and the dining and lounge room as their studio, in which Lilah shoots and edits her photographs. This and many other topics will be the basis of a discussion open to the public during the talk, which focuses on the shift of wellbeing within one’s home.

What’s happened to your interior during lockdown?
