Mireille Oberholster is an interior architect and designer originally from South Africa. Mireille is the co-ordinator of the Interior Design program at LCI Melbourne. She has a love for design and styling, and believes amazing spaces are often created with simplicity in mind.
Mireille has a Masters in Interior Design from the Milan Polytechnic University, for which she has been selected as an Ambassador. Having worked for various international and Australian interior design studios and retailers, she has extensive knowledge of functional and well-designed spaces. Mireille understands that designers have an important role to play in not only creating spaces, but in changing how people work, live, play and sleep. She believes in challenging her students to look at things differently in order to inspire the unexpected.
Mireille has collaborated on projects for Melbourne Indesign, IKEA, Space and Weylandts. She has also launched her own design studio, Little Sundae, focussing on children's spaces and collaborations – inspired by her two little sidekicks, Tate and Leeo. Her design aesthetic is simple, beautiful and creative. In the design process, she works to Bruce Mau's design manifesto of: "Break it, stretch it, bend it, crush it, crack it, fold it".
Mireille moved to Australia from South Africa with her children and husband, with whom she collaborates on designs for their company Lumiere Cycling – a cycling apparel retailer that transforms functional and practical pieces using beautifully crafted and unique fabrics.
