Millinery: High Fashion Headbands

Headbands are making fashion news and are perfect for wearing to the races, weddings and festivals. Headbands are easy to wear and are a great introduction to the world of making millinery. In this short course you will learn from renowned milliner Richard Nylon to employ the different skills and materials to create your own vibrant head pieces.

Course Objectives

During this course you will learn how to :

  • Design headbands by following millinery design guidelines.
  • Utilise millinery construction techniques to make your creation durable.
  • Master various feather treatments
  • Manipulate cocktail veiling to achieve elegant shapes
  • Handle and create with crinoline.
  • Stiffen and wire lace
  • Finish your creation to a high standard.

Richard’s distinctive designs often utilise unconventional approaches to materials and methods and naturally challenge  traditional millinery practices. With over twenty five years of experience in high fashion and theatrical millinery, Richard has developed expert knowledge of all aspects of the craft; paired with his enthusiasm and generosity, he is an outstanding teacher.
