Handmade Leather Small Goods

In this workshop, learn basic leather working skills and make your own wallet and bag, adding your own personal touch with rivets, embossing and rhinestones. With a focus on the material, tools and process we will lead you through basic leather crafting techniques as you put them into practise creating two of your own leather projects over 4 classes.

Course objectives

Create a small leather good piece by: 
  • Leather hand- cut and sew following a pattern
  • Leather folding and assembling techniques 
  • Leather burnishing and edge painting 
  • Attach standard fittings, studding and embossing 

Learn how to make a leather tassel Create a basic bag style by: 

  • Choosing a template (3 x pattern choices) 
  • Add design features and create pattern 
  • Cut and assemble

Meet your teacher | Zoi Cameron

Zoi Cameron is an enthusiastic and talented designer who has undertaken a wide range of roles within the fashion industry. With over 15 years experience and an early upbringing in her families’ leather goods business, Zoi has worked on projects for companies such as Calibre, Ja’aton and Dion Lee as well as manufacturing custom pieces for stars including Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Rebecca Twiggly and the Scissor Sisters. With her energetic personality and care to detail, Zoi is also an engaging presenter and supportive teacher.
