LCI Melbourne is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chair of its Board, Prof Warren Bebbington, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Adelaide. Prof Bebbington has had a long career in the arts, including periods as Director of the Victorian College of the Arts and as Chair of Music Committees at the Australia Council for the Arts.

“With his extensive experience in education and his all-embracing association with the arts community, we are more than thrilled to welcome Prof Bebbington as Chair,” said Marchand. “We are confident that Prof Bebbington will help lead LCI Melbourne in offering a high-quality alternative to existing tertiary education in the Arts in universities.”

Prof Bebbington was most recently the Vice Chancellor and President of The University of Adelaide, a post he held from 2012 – 2017. Throughout his tenure he effected sweeping changes to curriculum, infrastructure and external engagement that resulted in a noticeable uplift in the University’s enrolments and international ARWU ranking.

“I am pleased to be joining LCI Melbourne, one of LCI Education network’s 23 specialized arts institutions around the world. With its gifted staff and brand-new facilities, LCI Melbourne offers a uniquely practical education, superbly suited to students aspiring to professional art, fashion and design careers.”

He was a full Prof and the youngest Dean at the University of Queensland at the age of 32.  Subsequently, he rose through a succession of leadership roles at the University of Melbourne, from Dean then Pro-Vice Chancellor (Global Relations) to Deputy Vice Chancellor (University Affairs), before becoming Vice Chancellor of the University of Adelaide in 2012.
