Creative Education Events

We are excited to announce a number of events as part of the education program for 2017!  Below you will find more information and how to book.  These events are perfect for Senior Secondary students interested in art and design and looking to get the most out of their creative studies.

VCE VISUAL COMMUNICATION HELP DAYS
UNIT 3 & 4 SEMINARS STARTING IN MAY

A number of intensive seminars with guest speaker Kristen Guthrie are being held at the Academy of Design Australia during 2017 for Year 12 students studying Unit 3 & 4 Visual Communication Design.

• Saturday 20 May – Starting the folio
• Saturday 17 June – Working on the SAT folio
• Sunday 6 August – VCD Q&A’s (As part of the ADA Open Day)
• Saturday 26 August – Finishing the SAT and creating your pitch.
• Wednesday 27 September – Exam preparation

PLEASE NOTE: These sessions are standalone and need to be booked individually as they are released.  You may still book any session even if you haven’t booked a previous one.

DISCOVER A NEW FRONTIER
Visit the Academy’s Open Day to find out more about The Bachelor of Design Arts. It is one of only two undergraduate degrees in Design Arts available in Australia, and the only such degree offered in Victoria. Participate in free creative workshops, tour the campus and find out more about our major study areas:

• Filmmaking and Photography
• Graphic and Digital Design
• Interior Design
• Visual Arts

Author of Nelson Visual Communication Design Units 1-4, Kristen Guthrie, presents preparation for the Visual Communication Design exam.  The session covers skills, knowledge and understanding in the areas of technical drawing, rendering, visual analysis, industry practice and design based responses

Kristen will reference previous papers, including the 2015 paper, Examiners’ Reports and her own tips for making the examination time a productive and profitable experience.

Kristen Guthrie is an experienced teacher of Visual Communication and Design and a qualified graphic designer. She has been closely involved in the development, teaching and evaluation of the VCE Visual Communication and Design study design since its inception in the VCE curriculum. She has worked in curriculum development and assessment with VCAA and is passionate about design education. 

FOLIO REVIEW WORKSHOP
Wednesday 27 September 2017
11:30am – 1:30pm: (Free)

These sessions assist students with their preparation for the all important tertiary interviews.  Presenters are all accomplished educators and leaders in their field and will give you advice in putting your best foot forward.  Students are invited to bring their folio and get constructive feedback from top creative educators on presentation, finish, design principles and aesthetic focus.
